Currently, the term “coach” is used very broadly and loosely. Some individuals call themselves coaches without formal training or certification, which can be misleading.  Conversely, those with accredited training by the International Coach Federation (ICF) have completed rigorous education and certification, setting a clear standard for professionalism.

An ICF Credentialed coach has completed stringent education and experience requirements and has demonstrated a strong commitment to excellence in coaching, reassuring clients of my dedication to high standards.

Choosing a certified coach helps clients distinguish those committed to professionalism from those practicing coaching informally. Certification serves as a mark of quality, ensuring clients receive services from dedicated, qualified professionals.

When you identify a potential coach, request an introductory “fitability” consultation to discuss your current situation and goals, and ask about their experience with similar clients. This brief, typically free, discussion helps you determine if their expertise and services align well with what you need. It usually takes 20-30 mins, and you’ll get a good sense of the coach’s style and approach. You can also ask if they have testimonials to help gauge their effectiveness. Check out what my clients are saying.

While exceptions exist, multiple sessions are typically needed to make meaningful progress on longstanding barriers. Clients who see the most results usually commit to specific goals over 90 days, as significant change takes time. My popular  6-session, 90-day package offers flexibility, and clients can choose to move faster or slower. I encourage clients to inform me when they feel their goals are achieved. Every session should provide value, and clients are free to stop whenever they feel their progress is complete.

At the end of a coaching session, whether with another coach or me, I’d encourage you to recognize the progress you've made and how your awareness of yourself has grown.  While I would never claim that coaching can lead to immediate epiphanies, I do believe you should feel like you’re gaining a bit more clarity on your situation with each progressive session.  You should feel like you’re connecting the dots and gaining new awareness of yourself, enabling new actions and new results in your life.

We use Google Meet Video Conferencing, phone, and email for coaching. All means of communication are highly effective in bringing about desired change.

Coaches have different pricing structures. Some charge a set fee per session, while others charge a monthly fee with a set number of sessions or access. Being transparent about these options can help potential clients feel respected and confident in their choice of coaching service. Those coaches who have obtained certification from the International Coaches Federation or an accredited coaches school may tend to charge more given their level of training, experience, or expertise.

If you feel my approach, fee structure, and background may align with what you’re seeking, feel free to request a consultation.

Coaching is a partnership where a coach guides a client through a thought-provoking process to maximize their personal and professional potential, focusing on future goals and solutions rather than past problems. The coach acts as a facilitator, inspiring self-discovery and holding the client accountable for generating their own solutions and strategies to achieve their desired outcomes.

More about Coaching.

vs. Therapy:

Therapy focuses on healing past traumas and "fixing what's broken," while coaching focuses on unlocking potential and moving toward future goals.

vs. Consulting:

Consultants provide expertise and give answers, whereas coaches help clients find their own answers through questions and guidance.

vs. Mentoring:

Mentors share personal experiences and guide less experienced individuals, while a coach's role is to professionally guide the process without necessarily being an expert in the client's specific field.

Coaching, consulting, and mentoring serve distinct roles in development: consultants provide expert solutions to specific problems, mentors offer guidance and wisdom based on their own experiences, and coaches partner with clients through questions to help them discover their own answers and develop new abilities. The main difference lies in who holds the expertise: a consultant is paid to solve the problem for you, a mentor shares their direct experience with you, and a coach facilitates your self-discovery to solve problems for yourself.

Coaching is growing in popularity because it provides practical solutions for complex modern challenges, delivering tangible results like improved confidence, better relationships, and career advancement, often at a strong return on investment. The demand is fueled by both individuals seeking personal and professional development in a complex world and organizations needing to foster employee growth, with technology increasing accessibility and visibility for coaching services.

Coaching is categorized by its objective, such as life, business, career, or executive coaching, which helps our clients see the relevance to their own aspirations and feel inspired to pursue growth. Its methodology, like holistic, transformational, democratic, or autocratic, describes the coach's interaction style.

Coaching benefits individuals by increasing self-confidence, productivity, and work-life balance, leading to greater satisfaction and goal achievement. Organizations gain from coaching through improved employee engagement, more decisive leadership, higher revenues, reduced turnover, and better overall performance and team dynamics. A coaching culture fosters growth, adaptability, and accountability, which can help your team feel more supported and secure in their roles.

Many of my clients are busy business professionals, so I conduct most sessions via Google Meet or phone, allowing you to participate from the comfort and privacy of your own home, saving you time and effort. LEAD coaching process begins with an "Initial Consultation" to understand your current situation and goals. Next, we move into "Assessment & Planning" to clarify your life purpose, values, ambitions, and goals.  During "Working Sessions," we identify key barriers, frustrations, and areas where you tend to get stuck. After each session, we discuss next steps and actions to keep you progressing.  Most sessions last 60-90 mins. All information is kept 100% confidential, and I will never release the notes to anyone I’m working with you unless you give me explicit permission.  At the end of our engagement, we’ll review your progress and discuss how to leverage what you’ve learned as you move forward, along with "Ongoing Support" options.

No. The coach wants the client to be autonomous and achieve their goals. They make it clear from the start that the client is responsible for and owns the results of the coaching. Coaching works to make the client more self-reliant, not less so.

ICF (International Coaching Federation) standards for coaching are built on a strong ethical foundation and a set of core competencies, guiding professional coaches in delivering effective, results-driven coaching with integrity, confidentiality, and a focus on client growth. Key standards include demonstrating ethical practice, embodying a coaching mindset, establishing clear agreements, cultivating trust, listening actively, evoking awareness, facilitating learning, and managing accountability, ensuring coaches act as responsible partners for their clients.
